Sellaronda Skimarathon
22.03.2019 | Starting from Selva di Val Gardena
Established in 1995, the Sellaronda Skimarathon is the most famous nocturnal ski mountaineering competition in the Alps. Its name derives from the ‘Four Pass’ ski tour which is known as Sellaronda by valley dwellers.
The course hugs the Sella Group (Pordoi, Sella, Campolongo and Gardena) and the race is held at night: participants are helped by an electric light on their foreheads. This pair’s race and the course require constant pulling on and off of seal skin below the skis. The departure point is from a different Ladin valley each year: Fassa (Canazei), Badia (Corvara), Livinallongo (Arabba) and Gardena (Selva di Val Gardena).
