The Gianmario Scola ice stadium

The Alba ice stadium was built in 1987 and dedicated to Gianmario Scola, hockey champion and coach who was heavily involved in its construction and who followed the Fassa Hockey Team from 1972, bringing it into Series A in 1985.

The stadium can hold up to 3500 spectators and here visitors can watch the Val di Fassa HC home matches.

The ice stadium is also used as a figure skating facility and skate hire is available.

Fassa Hockey Club

The Fassa Hockey Club is the Alba di Canazei ice hockey team, which provides an involving and exciting experience for the many tourists who choose to spend their holidays in the valley.

The first ice hockey game using rudimentary pucks took place in the winter of 1954/55, but it was 24th December 1956 when the Canazei Hockey Club was founded in Canazei. The facilities and costs were extreme but the enthusiasm for this sport and the drive to get the team to the top led to the foundation in 1970 of a new society to replace the former: the Fassa Hockey Club. The first matches were held at the Gries, hockey facilities, until 1980 when the Gianmario Scola Ice Stadium became its official home.
