The Ladin flag

The Ladin flag was established on 5th May 1920 when representatives from the five Ladin valleys met at the Gardena Pass to protest against the Treaty of Saint-Germain, which did not recognise the right of the Ladin people, or the German populations of Alto-Adige, to self-determination and the affirmation of a separate ethnic group.

Defined by three horizontal bands, the first colour on the flag is sky blue, which represents the skies that provide the backdrop to the magnificent mountains, the white of the snow and the green of the meadows and pastures.
